Dear Tom, What Should I Do About Dry Frizzy Hair?

In this post, TEI Salon owner, Tom Innomorato shares his expertise for treating dry frizzy hair.

Dear Tom,

My hair is not really curly, maybe a little wavy but more so just “dry and frizzy”. When I step outside after spending time blowing my hair out it looks like “I could fly on a broom”.  Why does this happen?

“Broom Hilda”

Dear “Broom Hilda”,

The nature of your hair is porous, and stepping out into the moisture is not your friend. Picture a single strand of hair, the outside is the cuticle like shingles on a roof. When you’re in a humid atmosphere, the shingles raise making the hair frizzy.  The answer is to keep that shingle closed tightly. PERIOD!

I have two suggestions:

  1. There are products that you can use daily like creams, serums and oils that are temporary.
  2. If you are looking for something that is a twelve-week fix, Brazilian Blowout is the answer. It’s a service with a molecule called keratin that lodges under the shingle of the hair and fuses it tightly, leaving the hair shiny and smooth to the touch.

I hope that was helpful.  If you’d like to make an appointment for one of these treatments, simply call us at 484-527-0000.  Now keep your broom in the broom closet. ;-)
